2020 has been a particularly challenging year, but we can always take a moment to appreciate how we have grown and progressed. A new year often signals a time of reflection and evaluation in order to position ourselves for positive growth and progress for the year ahead.

Joining us are Leaders in the Learning & Development field across the Banking, Automotive & Shipping industries in this light-hearted sharing -

  • Cindy Dermawan (SVP - Reskilling & Capabilities Development, UOB)

Cindy is a HR professional with 20 years of experience specializing in Talent Management, Learning and Leadership Development. Currently, Cindy is heading the Group Capabilities Development and Reskilling for UOB. In this role, she is responsible for the group reskilling effort, with the objective to future proof the bank’s workforce and inculcate continuous development. Prior to this role, Cindy headed the Talent and Learning Management, Diversity and Inclusion portfolio at Citi Singapore, where she was responsible for country-level succession planning, high potential talent development program and franchise learning development strategy. Cindy also led the diversity and inclusion strategy, along with the country steering committee.

  • Teresa Dewdney (Network Capability Manager, Subaru Australia & Head of Talent and Development, Inchcape Australasia)

Teresa began her L&D career in NZ over 20 years ago and has worked in various role in several industries, including media sales, financial services and automotive. From the start of her career as a trainer she has broadened into leadership development and talent management. In her current role with Inchcape Australasia she wears two hats, as Network Capability Manager with Subaru Australia and Head of Talent and Development for Inchcape Australasia. She is interested in exploring how we can leverage learnings over COVID and technology to improve capability development and the culture of learning and leadership across both roles.

  • Vijay Jeyakumaran (Marine Training Manager, Berge Bulk)

Vijay is passionate about helping organizations transform their traditional based training to technology enhanced training. With 18 years’ experience, Vijay is a Training and Development professional experienced in strategizing technical training, leading safety leadership development and leadership training. Presently, Vijay is leading Berge Bulk Maritime’s training with responsibilities in competency management and talent management for all ranks of the seafarers group. He is also responsible for leading the transformation of marine leadership for top tier officers in the fleet.

Reflecting on the past year - a year filled with uncertainty, where change was the constant, and prime ourselves for the year ahead - a year of hope, recovery and possibilities in this new normal.
