WEBINAR - Addressing Personal Bias & Microagressions

Impact of Racism

Panelists: James Garza, Pete Small, and Dwight Bailey

Wednesday, August 19 | 11:00 a.m. EDT

The concept of racism can be hard to explore for some. For others, it is not a concept, but rather a daily reality that requires people of color to navigate the world differently in order to thrive or even just survive. Research shows that the impact of racism and discrimination carries significant psychological and physiological consequences. This is a burden people of color manage not only at home, but at work as well. When a consistent portion of a person’s cognitive load is reserved to manage the experiences of racism, they cannot bring their full potential to the table, which places people of color at a disadvantage. This is the case whether or not racism is present in the workplace. How does the impact of racism disturb organizational performance? What can leaders do to identify and address racism? How can organizations better understand the experience for people of color?

Join us for this webinar where we will explore:

  • Systemic racism and racial inequality at work
  • Physical and mental impacts of racism
  • Code-switching, covering, covert rules, and cognitive capacity
  • Becoming an ally in addressing the impact of racism
